The application of peptides is expected to see rosy development and inject vigorous momentum into the healthcare industry, said experts and researchers.

"The wide use of different types of peptides in wrinkle reduction, hair loss prevention and dark circle elimination is opening up new perspectives for understanding and practical application of biological peptide chains," said Liu Wei, an advisor at the dermatology physician branch of the Chinese Medical Association.

Bioactive peptides are peptide compounds beneficial to biological activities or having physiological effects on organisms. In recent years, the development of bioactive peptides has witnessed rapid growth, with widespread applications in biomedicine, functional foods and cosmetics.

Wu Wei, a professor at the school of pharmacy at Fudan University, said that experimental research has demonstrated that ionic liquids can enhance transdermal drug absorption, and their future applications in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals hold great promise.

Healthcare experts made the speech during the first Peptide and Skin Health Frontier Technology Forum hosted by the Oriental Beauty Valley Skin Science Research Institute and co-organized by WlJ Healthcare Technology (Shanghai) Co Ltd in Shanghai this month, where new products including peptides — like PptRepair, a peptide technology application, and Orchid Heart, a cod collagen peptide drink — were first released in the domestic market.

The former, as an ingredient, can be applied in various cosmetic products, including masks, serums, essences, creams, lotions, cleansers, as well as hair care and body care products; while the latter, as a food supplement, is expected to replenish skin proteins and resist against aging skins, said WlJ Healthcare, adding that it will collaborate with more scientific professionals to advance research and development in frontier technologies.

"The collaboration aims to harness the potential of peptides in empowering human beauty and health and provide more efficient, safer, greener, and more environmentally friendly solutions, helping people achieve their beauty and health goals," said the company.
