Fangda Group unveils aviation HQ in Chongqing
The Fangda Aviation International Headquarters unveiling ceremony was held on Friday in Southwest China's Chongqing. The headquarters will be operated by Fangda Group, a Liaoning-based company specializing in carbon, steel, medicine, commerce and aviation.
"The establishment of the Fangda Aviation International Headquarters marks a significant milestone in the Fangda Chongqing Aviation City project and the group's involvement in the operation of Chongqing's international aviation hub," said Wang Jing, deputy director of Chongqing's Port Logistics Office, at the event.
In April, the Chongqing government and Fangda signed a strategic cooperation agreement to create the Fangda Chongqing Aviation City project, which includes the new headquarters.
According to the group, the project is expected to be completed in about five years and contains two main base airlines for passenger and cargo services, three airport-related industrial projects, four aviation-related industries and one comprehensive logistics service company covering airline base construction, airline route development, capacity deployment, aircraft maintenance and aircraft leasing in multiple regions of Chongqing such as Yubei and Liangping and Chongqing High-tech Industrial Development Zone.
The project's overall investment is estimated to exceed 100 billion yuan ($13.8 billion), and its annual output value is expected to reach 130 billion yuan.
The group's aviation strategy aligns with Chongqing's international aviation hub development strategy. Wang noted Hainan Airlines, Tianjin Airlines and West Air are currently the leading forces in Chongqing's developing international routes, accounting for 90 percent of the city's intercontinental routes.
According to Chongqing Airport Group Co Ltd, Fangda-affiliated airlines operate seven long-haul intercontinental routes from Chongqing to cities in Europe, America and Australia, including Seattle, London, Paris, Rome, Milan, Madrid and Sydney.
