Wooden boat manufacturers ramp up production to meet orders

Wooden boat manufacturing enterprises in Zhuhong town, Xinghua, a county-level city in Jiangsu province, have been ramping up production recently to meet orders for dragon boats. In 2008, the "Xinghua traditional wooden boat production technique" was listed as part of China's national intangible cultural heritage.

Dragon boats are used in races during the Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival. The festival, which also involves eating glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in reeds or bamboo leaves, falls on June 10 this year.
