'I Love Italian Olive Oil' master class showcases Italian expertise in Beijing
In Beijing, the Italian Trade Agency Beijing Office and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation co-hosted the second edition of the "I Love Italian Olive Oil" master class on Tuesday. The event featured two seasoned Italian olive oil experts, who conducted an immersive session, captivating 50 industry professionals, food enthusiasts, and lifestyle bloggers with their wealth of knowledge.
The half-day master class covered a wide array of topics, including global olive oil origins, Italian processing methods, global classifications, and the top olive oil regions in Italy. As one of the world's largest olive oil producers, accounting for approximately one-fifth of global production, Italy aims to elevate the visibility and recognition of its olive oil in China, while fostering collaboration in the food sector between the two nations.
Since its inception in Beijing last year, this master class has garnered enthusiastic support from importers, distributors, hospitality, food service, cafes, retail management, and industry media.
Francesco Pensabene, director of the Italian Trade Agency Beijing Office and coordinator of the ITA Office in China and Mongolia, emphasized the delectable and healthful qualities of Italian olive oil, highlighting its integral role in the Mediterranean diet.
"Whether used as a salad dressing, for cooking, or savored on its own, Italian olive oil stands as a versatile premium ingredient for food enthusiasts," Pensabene remarked, underlining the versatility and appeal of this culinary staple.
